Sparkasse Freiburg donates 30,000 euros for the refurbishment of the Korntawerplan – Freiburg

The Korntawer plan is the oldest representation of the urban district of Freiburg. It is currently being renovated in the Augustinian Museum. The Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau has now made available € 30,000.

The Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau provides 30,000 euros for the restoration of the Korntawer floor. The 1608 map of Freiburg is the oldest representation of the urban district and is currently being restored in a glass factory in the Kaiserfenster foyer of the Augustinian Museum (BZ reported). The map has an impressive dimensions of 4.50 by 2.35 meters and is named after its creator, the Strasbourg doctor and cartographer Job Korntawer. He made the oil painting for the mayor and the city council of Freiburg. The original of the Korntawer plan hung in the Sparkasse Meckelhalle on Kaiser-Joseph-Straße until around 1940.
