Jakarta –
Prime Minister Spanish Pedro Sanchez declared a national state of emergency. This status is set to suppress the second wave of virus cases Corona.
Reported by AFP on Monday (26/10/2020) this national state of emergency was declared on Sunday, and will last until early May. One of the restrictions put in place was a curfew in all of Spain except the Canary Islands.
“The situation we are in is very extreme,” Sanchez said in a broadcast speech, after a cabinet meeting held to discuss the crisis.
The so-called emergency measures come in response to calls from regions to impose a curfew to combat a spike in coronavirus cases.
The call comes after Spain on Wednesday became the first European country to record more than one million cases of the virus.
