Rick Moranis Returns to Live-Action Film in Spaceballs 2
After a 27-year hiatus from live-action movies, Rick Moranis is set to reprise his iconic role as Dark Helmet in Spaceballs 2, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed today with the release of a new cast photo. The sequel, slated for release in 2027 – 40 years after the original Spaceballs debuted – marks a significant return for the beloved actor and a continuation of the cult classic comedy.
MoranisS last live-action film appearance was in 1997’s Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves. His return was initially reported by Deadline earlier this year, but today’s announcement and cast photo solidify his involvement. The news is notably resonant for fans who have long hoped to see Moranis back on the big screen.
