‘South African doctor kills her three daughters’ | Abroad

Lauren Dickason, 40, had just moved from South Africa to New Zealand with her husband Graham and three daughters. They arrived in mid-August and first had to spend a 14-day quarantine period in a hotel. Hopeful social media posts from the mother, of course, did not suspect any tensions or problems within the family.

On Thursday night, however, the unthinkable happened. Father Graham, a surgeon, returned home at 10pm after a working visit to find his three daughters (a 6-year-old girl and 2-year-old twins). He called 911, but the girls – Maya, Karla and Liane – had already died. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed by authorities.

‘Tough pregnancy’

The girls’ mother was taken to hospital. She is in stable condition. On Friday she was charged with the murder of her daughters. She is due to appear in court soon. Dickason has struggled for years to conceive, according to The Daily Mail. A family nanny has no indications of major problems within the family. Dickason has been placed in a secure cell and undergoes psychological testing.

The girls’ grandmother says the family is still trying to understand what happened. Lauren and Graham have been married for fifteen years. Flowers and stuffed animals have been placed at the house of the two. “It hasn’t dawned on us yet. We are in shock,” said the children’s grandmother.
