PSD first vice-president, deputy Sorin Grindeanu, specified on Monday that he is among those who claim that the Social Democrats should not be present in Cotroceni, at possible consultations with President Iohannis, after the vote of the censure motion and added that there were different opinions in the meeting of the PSD Permanent National Bureau .

  • “I was among those who said that we should not show up at Cotroceni, because the one who endorsed all these things is Klaus Iohannis. But, of course, opinions were divided: colleagues who said it would be good to go with a very clear mandate – the one we have been saying for a very long time, namely early elections – and others, including myself, who said it was good not to go, because every time I was “Mr. Iohannis didn’t listen to us much. For example, in December last year, when we went with the winning mandate, he didn’t care about our choice, he said that the Romanians voted right. Look what they voted! Mr. Iohannis in 7 years old he had 7 prime ministers and he expects to have the 8th one. PSD.

Asked if PSD would vote for a minority government made up of PNL and UDMR, Grindeanu denied: “We have clear decisions from this point of view, without nuances. The answer is extremely short: No!”.

Grindeanu reaffirmed that PSD is requesting early elections. “We must return to the people. This is the mandate we have, reconfirmed in various PSD leadership structures,” the deputy added.

He assured that the PSD parliamentarians will be present on Tuesday for the vote and will vote for the dismissal of “this incompetent government”, except for the deputy Radu Popa, who is confirmed with Covid or other motivated cases.
