soon fines in Villeurbanne for those who do not respect the rules

As part of an experiment, about twenty agents will patrol the city to observe violations of the household waste collection regulations, and if necessary, to distribute fines to offenders.

Villeurbanne wants to put an end to the anarchy in the dumping of waste. The city is launching an experiment from January 20, in partnership with the Lyon Metropolis to control collection points and, if necessary, distribute fines to people who do not respect the rules.

Fines of 35 to 175 euros for offenders

“Too often, in fact, non-compliance with the rules results in garbage bags thrown away in bulk near collection points, the contents of non-compliant gray and yellow bins or, for some professionals, an excess of the weekly volume of waste. authorized”, explain Isabelle Petiot, deputy vice-president for waste reduction and Laura Gandolfi, deputy mayor of Villeurbanne in charge of roads in a press release published on Wednesday.

In concrete terms, about twenty agents trained by the Métropole will survey the various collection points in the city to look for and record breaches of the regulations for the collection of household and similar waste in the Métropole de Lyon. They will be able to “draw up a report for an amount of 35 € for a natural person and 175 € for a legal person”.

This brigade is intended to be extended to the rest of the municipalities of the Lyon metropolitan area if the experimentation becomes conclusive.
