Association Solidarity bubbles was created in Rennes in September 2017 to provide everyone with access to personal hygiene. In 2020, the Rennes association decides to go even closer to people on the street by launching the “Bulle mobile” project.
Despite the confinement, crowdfunding to buy the motorhome
The idea was to buy a shower motorhome to roam the streets of Rennes to provide access to a bathroom for those who do not have one. It was in April 2020 in full confinement. Despite everything, the association decides to launch crowdfunding. And it is a success.
“In less than a month, we raised 20,000 euros in donations, it was quite magical because in full confinement we were not sure it would work” explains Laure-Anna Galeandro-Diamant, president of Bulles solidaires. “But on the contrary, because of the situation, there was a huge outpouring of generosity and we collected the sum in a very short time” she continues.
So bet won in just one month thanks to internet users and also other donations including the Little Brothers of the Poor.
Makeover in progress of the motorhome
The shower motorhome was purchased near Rennes in mid January thanks to crowdfunding and donations. The vehicle is now in a company specializing in an interior makeover. In particular, the bathroom must be enlarged to better accommodate the homeless. “We opted for quality rather than quantity. We are therefore going to enlarge the shower space so that people can come one by one. They can take the time to shower, to shave, to put on makeup. , to do what they want to do in their bathroom “ specifies Laure-Anna Galeandro-Diamant, president of Bulles solidaires. “There will also be a space to chat and have a coffee”.
It will also be necessary to change the fabric of the armchairs so that they are less messy. A classified ad was posted on Bulles solidaires’ Facebook page to find a couturier or seamstress.
The mobile Bulles motorhome is due to start crisscrossing Rennes and the towns of the metropolis next spring.
