Sony to Reduce Storage in New PlayStation 5 SlimDigital Edition

Oslo, Norway – Sony will reportedly decrease the⁢ storage capacity of the upcoming PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition (model number CFI-2116), launching in Europe on September 13th, according to facts published by French ⁣website⁢ Dealabs.⁤ While the standard PS5 Slim wiht a disc‌ drive will⁤ retain its 1TB storage, the digital edition will receive a storage reduction, though the exact amount has not been officially confirmed. The console will be priced ‍at NOK 6300 in Norway, the same ‍as the current model.

This change arrives less than a year after⁤ Sony launched the PS5 ⁤Slim, touting increased storage – from 825GB in original models to 1TB – as a key benefit. The move comes amid‍ a series of price increases ‍for the PS5 Digital Edition, which originally launched in‌ 2020 at €399 and now costs €499, equivalent to a NOK 6300 price tag in Norway as of this summer, up from NOK 5800. industry observers suggest the storage reduction may be a strategy to ‍avoid further price hikes.

Norwegian retailers Elkjøp, Komplett, and Power have stated they have not yet received confirmation of the storage change from Playstation importer Nordisk Film. TEK,a norwegian tech news ‌outlet, has contacted⁢ Nordisk Film for comment and will update the story as more information becomes available.

Sony will clearly mark⁤ the reduced storage space on the new packaging. The storage reduction⁣ is currently only observed ⁣on the European ⁣version of the console.
