Sony cancels game fair PAX East for concerns about coronavirus | NOW

Sony is not coming to the big American game fair PAX East, the company announced Wednesday in one blog post. Sony is concerned about the corona virus SARS-CoV-2 and wants to protect the health of employees.

“We found this the safest option because the situation changes daily,” Sony writes. “We regret that we have to cancel our participation, but the health and safety of our employees are the most important.”

PAX East is a large game fair that attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. The event takes place next week in the American city of Boston. Sony would be at the trade show with the PlayStation brand. Among other things, the game company planned to present the game The Last of Us Part II for the first time with a hands-on demo.

Mobile World Congress (MWC) Tech Fair was held last week canceled to worry about the corona virus. Many companies have already said goodbye to the stock market, including Sony and LG, who normally use the stock market to show new smartphones to the press and analysts.

CEO John Hoffman of organizer GSMA wrote in a statement on 12 February that the virus outbreak made it “impossible” for the event to continue. The trading floor would open on February 24.

For now, Sony is the only one that has canceled for PAX East.
