Sony acquires refurbishment kings Bluepoint Games

It was a few months ago by PlayStation Japan announced Sony’s acquisition of Bluepoint Games. At the time, it turned out to have been a mistake, but now the purchase is official.

Bluepoint has been collaborating with Sony for several years, and has made a name for itself with its great refurbishment skills. The team has several critically acclaimed new versions of the CV, including Demon’s Souls, Shadow of the Colossus and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

“For each of its projects, Bluepoint has raised the bar for console-defining visual quality and gaming, and the studio’s abundant expertise in building worlds and characters will be a big plus for future PlayStation Studios projects,” said PlayStation chief. Hermen Hulst in a statement.

However, the collaboration will not only be about renovation projects. In an interview with IGN Bluepoint CEO Marco Thrush explained that the studio is working on its next project, which will be something completely new and unique for the team.

– It is not as if we are a group of developers who started by developing renovations and new versions. We have the development of original games in the blood, and that is what we are finally ready – with support from Sony – to get started and show what we can do and what PlayStation can do, said Thrush.

What Bluepoint is going to work on, the studio would certainly not come out with yet.
