Son Heung-min admits he’s a MU fan

Son Heung-min is one of the main players Tottenham Hotspur. Even so, Son revealed that he used to be supportive Manchester United.

The South Korean football star continued to shine after joining Spurs in the summer of 2015. So far, Son has contributed more than 109 goals and 64 assists in 284 appearances.

In addition, Son’s contribution helped Tottenham finish in the top four (once runner-up) four times in the last six seasons. Son Heung-min was also part of the Tottenham squad as they reached the first Champions League final in the club’s history in the 2018/2019 season.

Son admitted to idolizing Park Ji-sung, a former player who had spent seven seasons at Man United. As a result, Son had been a MU supporter as a child.

“Manchester United because it’s obvious Ji-sung is playing there,” replied Son Heung-min when asked Pro:Direct Soccer about his favorite team as a kid. “He’s a national hero.”

“In Korea, they will say that he has two hearts. He is a national hero to me. He is also my best friend,” continued the 29-year-old player on Metro.

“He offers players from South Korea [cara bermain sepakbola], he gave us hope and opportunity. It’s not easy, he’s the first player to compete in the Premier League. So I used to support United, but I can’t now!” said Son.

Son Heung-min has scored two goals in three games Tottenham in the Premier League this season. However, Son’s positive momentum was stopped due to a calf injury in the last international break but he is expected to be fit in the home match against Chelsea on Sunday (19/9/2021).
