If any club knows how to deal with blows, it is Southampton.

After losing Virgil van Dijk, the Saints signed Jannik Vestergaard. When Dusan Tadic left, Stuart Armstrong came in.

Morgan Schneiderlin left, Oriol Romeu arrived. Manolo Gabbiadini, meanwhile, was relegated to the distant past as soon as Danny Ings started scoring goals in red and white.

Simply put, Southampton have shown time and again that replacing key players is something they are pretty good at.

And, with Ryan Bertrand out of contract in July and seemingly targeting a move to one of England’s genuine heavy hitters, reports linking Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side to Brentford’s Rich Henry should come as no surprise (The Sun).

Young, technically gifted, and brimming with energy, Henry is not only a typical Saints signing, but he’s also exactly the kind of attacking-minded, aggressive winger who tends to thrive under former RB Leipzig boss Hasenhuttl.

The Standard claims that Henry, who also has fans at West Ham United and Arsenal, is valued at around £ 12 million.

And if Brentford loses the promotion once again, the Bees may be powerless to prevent the former Walsall youth from following in the footsteps of Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Said Benrahma.

That trio has risen to the top flight in impressive fashion. And some Southampton fans believe Henry has what it takes to emulate Watkins’ impact in the Premier League.
