Ducelier Leads First Competitors into Iroise Sea in Solitaire du Figaro, Gains Time bonus
The first racers in the 56th edition of the Solitaire du Figaro have completed the Gulf of Gascogne and entered the Iroise Sea. Jules Ducelier of the Normandy region was the first to reach the Western of Sein at 7:07 p.m. and 41 seconds, earning a 5-minute bonus in the intermediate sprint.The fleet now sets its sights on the passage of the oven, the exit door of Pointe Bretonne, and a final sprint toward the Cotentin and Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue finish line.
This marks a crucial stage in the legendary race, offering Ducelier a potential boost to climb the rankings. Currently second Arno Biston trails Ducelier by 6.6 miles as of 7 p.m. Ducelier remains 33 minutes and 19 seconds behind the overall leader. Alexis Loison followed Ducelier, securing a 3-minute bonus, while Charlotte Yven earned the final bonus minute.
Wiht approximately 200 miles remaining, competitors face challenging conditions in the Iroise Sea – including currents, headwinds, and navigational obstacles – where strategy and tactics will be paramount. Racers will continue to validate crossing points throughout the evening, focusing on the next stage of the race.
