Solemnity of the Apostles Peter and Paul Bishop Manfred Scheuer Klemens Langeder was ordained a priest on Thursday in the Mariendom in Linz. At the beginning of his sermon, Scheuer emphasized that the place of the church and also the place of the priests is not a static space, but a path. Pope Francis sees the synodal process, in which the church is currently going through worldwide, not only as an assembly and “sitting together”, but as a new style of church life and of approaching people in the world. The vocation of the Church is pilgrimage. In this sense, Klemens Langeder is “ordained to be a pilgrim,” said Scheuer.
The Bishop of Linz continued: “Ultimately, mission, the basic task of the church, is about showing what you love: showing Jesus, of whom we can be sure that he loves us. Klemens Langeder is called to do this as a priest “To be a witness of friendship with Jesus. Clement felt: There is someone who carries me and guides me. The mission of a priest is to help to create communion and friendship with God and between people.”
Langeder was born in Linz in 1986. After a vocation experience during a pilgrimage to Medjugorje at Easter 2010 and through the novitiate with the Legionaries of Christ, he entered the seminary in Linz in 2014. In June 2022, Langeder was ordained a deacon by Bishop Scheuer. Klemens Langeder will begin his priestly ministry as chaplain in the parish of St. Georgen im Attergau, where he also spent his year as a diaconate.
