Solemn introduction of worship representatives

Auxiliary Bishop Ulrich Boom introduced four women and two men to the Karbach church on Sunday evening as worship representatives. As pastoral advisor Christiane Hetterich reported at the beginning, the training, which lasted longer due to the corona, started in September 2019. It was now completed with the celebration.

“Thank you very much for your commitment and for feeling called to give people guidance,” said the auxiliary bishop, referring to the two readings and the Gospel. He wished the new worshipers that they would find empowerment in the Holy Scriptures. With the handover of the certificate, Boom officially appointed the committed Christians, four of whom came from the parish community “Maria? Patronin of Franconia”, to serve as word worship leaders for the diocese of Würzburg.

Before that, the worshipers at the baptismal font had already spoken the praise and sprinkled the believers present with holy water. Hetterich, who held the preparatory course together with Pastor Stefan Redelberger, also expressed her thanks and presented the Laacher missal as a gift to the parish community. This not only contains the readings, but also short prayers, intercessions and meditative texts as suggestions for future work.

“Pastor Redelberger and I are looking forward to working together”, Hetterich announced beaming with joy and invited them to do an internship in the respective parish in order to find work more easily. With the four new members, the parish community now has a total of eight worship officers, and at least one person is involved in each of the five locations.

At the end of the celebration of the Word of God, which was musically framed by Paul Laudenbacher (organ) as well as Jana Schürger and Helena Röhrig (vocals), Sarah Chege provided a real surprise. Together with her friend, Chege, who comes from Kenya and is now at home in Roden, performed a dance that is typical of the liturgy in Kenya. Spontaneously those present clapped rhythmically, while Auxiliary Bishop Boom expressed his enthusiasm for the performance with a blessing for Africa, Europe and Karbach in Swahili.
