Freiburg (AP) – The soccer women of VfL Wolfsburg have completed the quarter-finals in the DFB Cup. The cup defender scored a sovereign 3-0 (2-0) against Bundesliga rivals SC Freiburg on Monday evening. Captain Dominique Janssen (11th minute) with a hand penalty and Jill Roord in stoppage time in the first half shot a safe lead before the break. Svenja Huth (76th) put the finishing touches.
In front of 3100 spectators in the Dreisamstadion, where the Freiburg Bundesliga men played until they moved to their new arena, the hosts pushed in the second half. They no longer managed to score. The quarter-final pairings will be drawn next Sunday (6.30 p.m. / Sky).
At the weekend, the German champions Bayern Munich prevailed against the cup finalists of the previous season, Eintracht Frankfurt, with 4-2 in the round of 16. In another Bundesliga duel, SC Sand scored 1-0 at Werder Bremen. Turbine Potsdam won against 1. FC Köln 2-0, Bayer Leverkusen won 5-4 on penalties against TSG 1899 Hofffenheim. The only non-Bundesliga team in the quarter-finals is second division SV Henstedt-Ulzburg.
