Freiburg (AP) – Defender Keven Schlotterbeck from SC Freiburg has countered the brash words of his brother Nico from 1. FC Union Berlin before the direct duel on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky). The Union loan had announced that it would knock Keven down if it came down to it. “That would hurt himself more,” said Keven Schlotterbeck on Thursday to the German Press Agency and added with a smile: “If the train is rolling, you should get off the track.”

Union loaned Nico Schlotterbeck (21) for one year from SC Freiburg, while Nico’s two and a half year older brother Keven (23) played successfully for the Köpenicker last season. Since then he has been back at the sports club. The two brothers are both similar in size and have a left foot, but are otherwise “very different types”, said SC coach Christian Streich.

It is unclear whether there will be a meeting on Saturday at all. After his yellow-red ban with the Berliners, Nico Schlotterbeck is again “an alternative” for the defense chain, according to coach Urs Fischer, while his brother is open to action after muscular problems. Streich put the chances of Keven Schlotterbeck at 48 percent.
