Soccer – Frankfurt am Main – Wolfsburg’s soccer women with a sovereign victory in Frankfurt – Sport

Frankfurt/Main (dpa) – The soccer women of VfL Wolfsburg have presented in the long-distance title duel with Bayern Munich and cemented their top position in the Bundesliga. The DFB Cup winner came to a comfortable 4:1 (4:0) victory in the top game of matchday 18 at fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday and extended the lead over the defending champions from Munich to four points at least overnight. The Bayern women can reduce the gap to one point with a win on Sunday against SGS Essen.

The replay of last year’s cup final was a one-sided affair. Jill Roord put the guests ahead in the 9th minute, which Lena Lattwein (14′), Roord again (27′) and Pauline Bremer (45′) extended until the break. After the change, Wolfsburg limited itself to managing the safe lead, so that Eintracht scored a consolation goal through Geraldine Reuteler (86th). For the Frankfurters, the defeat meant a setback in the fight for third place, which means participation in the Champions League.
