Soccer – Frankfurt am Main – Hölzenbein: penalty “kept me talking” – sport

Frankfurt / Main (AP) – Former soccer world champion Bernd Hölzenbein is still being asked about the penalty scene in the 1974 World Cup final. This is what the Eintracht Frankfurt veteran told the German Press Agency before his 75th birthday next Tuesday. In terms of content, there are no two opinions for Hölzenbein about the scene in which the Dutchman Wim Jansen brought down the German: “A clear penalty! Then there should have been another one, but it was not whistled.” The highly controversial scene from the final (2: 1 for Germany) “always kept him talking”.

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, Hölzenbein, who played continuously for Eintracht Frankfurt between 1967 and 1981, has been missing several things. These include regular visits to the stadium at Eintracht or his participation in charity tournaments as a hobby golfer.
