The team: Clermont
If it were necessary to illustrate the expression “to make the round back”, the Clermontois would have all their place. Facing OM on Sunday at the end of the 25th day of Ligue 1 (0-2), Pascal Gastien’s men showed unfailing defensive solidarity. After opening the scoring through Mohamed Bayo (13th) after a quick, smoothly completed transition, the Clermontois defended solidly for 80 minutes, even adding a second goal through Jim Allevinah (84th).
So for the show, we’ll come back. But Clermont is above all looking for points in its maintenance operation and was able to show its team consistency this weekend. Result, the Auvergnats are 15th and have five points ahead of Saint-Etienne, 16th, and six points on the four teams at the bottom of the table (Troyes, Lorient, Metz, Bordeaux), which all point to 21 points.

The player: Serhou Guirassy
Serhou Guirassy had not started with Rennes in Ligue 1 since September and the least we can say is that he did not miss his return against Troyes: first on the lookout for he ball released by the Trojan goalkeeper (14th) then with a header from a cross from Meling (20th), the striker greatly contributed to Rennes’ big victory on Sunday (4-1).
The former Amiens is also on his fourth double with Rennes in the league since joining the Breton club in 2020. Only Alexandre Frei has more than him in the top flight in the 21st century, with nine doubles .

Performance: Nantes
Who else ? When we offer ourselves Paris SG at home (3-1), we can only make an impression. Even more when you play like FC Nantes did: the Canaries did not hesitate to harass the Parisians in their half of the field, without fear of leaving spaces for the Neymar-Messi-Mbappé trio. So certainly, the latter missed a plethora of opportunities, but we must also highlight the great individual performances of the Nantes, their goalkeeper Alban Lafont in the lead.
But also Ludovic Blas, who scored his 12th goal in all competitions this season, the rough Nicolas Pallois, the restless Moses Simon and the enchanting Quentin Merlin, who scored a sublime achievement with the outside of his foot. It was well worth a nice 7th place in the standings at the end of this weekend.

The poor performance: Bordeaux
Some will say that a point gleaned in the race to maintain, moreover against Monaco (1-1), is already a good performance. But looking more closely at the turn of the match, there is reason to think that the Girondins missed the boat. Without being flamboyant, Bordeaux had nevertheless opened the scoring and could rejoice in the exclusion, from the half-hour mark, of Aurélien Tchouaméni (34th).
But after the hour mark, David Guion, for whom it was his first game as a coach on the Bordeaux bench, chose to close the shop despite the numerical superiority of his team. Exit Yacine Adli, entry into play of the colossus Danilo Ignatenko, nine defensive players and only Rémi Oudin and Hwang Ui Jo to play the transitions. In short, concrete to ensure. Except that AS Monaco took advantage of a billiard shot in the area following a strike from Gelson Martins to equalize a few minutes later (67th). And the Girondins, who had so far virtually left the red zone, have regained their last place in the standings. Frustrating.

The number :
12
Like the number of goals on which RC Lens side Jonathan Clauss has been involved since the start of the season. With a new achievement against Lyon on Saturday, the Lensois is the most decisive defender offensively in Europe, tied with Trent Alexander-Arnold. Hello Didier Deschamps?
