In most markets where Hyundai Creta / ix25 family SUVs are sold, these cars have already managed, if not to change the generation, then at least postpone planned restyling. The Russian Creta is still produced in its original form, although its debut took place in 2016. But in India, where a restyled version of the crossover was introduced two years ago, the second generation of Creta has already been shown.
Surprise did not happen: from the outside, the new Indian SUV almost completely repeats the second-generation Hyundai ix25 for the Chinese market, which was introduced last year. Of the obvious differences, perhaps another radiator grille. However, such a bold design is no longer a novelty for Indian buyers: in front, the Creta resembles the younger Venue model, whose sales in India started almost a year ago.
The official photos of the salon have not yet been published, but you can not wait for the same radical changes that have occurred with the model for China. The front panel of the Indian Creta will be solved in the traditional style of the old SUV, while the Chinese Hyundai ix25 has virtual instruments and a huge media system screen in the entire center console.
The powertrain line has migrated from the sister crossover Kia Seltos, which is available in India with an aspirated 1.5 (115 hp, 144 Nm), a gasoline 1.4 turbo engine (140 hp, 242 Nm) and a 1.5 turbo diesel (115 hp) , 250 Nm). Like the Indian Seltos, all three engines are combined with a six-speed “mechanics”, but for an extra charge the aspirator can be combined with a variator, a diesel engine with a six-speed “automatic”, and a 140-horsepower turbo four are optionally equipped with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches . You can’t count on all-wheel drive: Indian buyers of such cars do not need it, therefore, the “first” Creta here cost two driving wheels.
Production and sales of Crete second generation in India will begin in mid-March. Estimated price range – from 14 to 22 thousand dollars. Well, in Russia we are waiting for the restyling of the Crete of the first generation: the premiere of the updated crossover will take place in the near future.
