Snoop Dogg‘s alleged Apology for LGBTQ+ Remarks Deemed False
An Instagram comment purportedly issued by Snoop Dogg addressing recent controversy over his remarks regarding LGBTQ+ portrayal in family films has been debunked as inauthentic. His agent confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the comment, which circulated widely over the weekend, was “false.”
The controversy began last week when Snoop Dogg expressed discomfort with LGBTQ+ storylines in children’s media during an appearance on the It’s Giving podcast. He recounted watching the animated film Buzz Lightyear (2022) with his grandson and struggling to answer questions about a same-sex couple having a child. “They are children. Should we show them this at this age?” the 53-year-old rapper stated, adding, “I don’t have the answers.” The remarks sparked criticism, with many accusing the artist of making lesbophobic statements.
The alleged apology, posted under a video of actress TS Madison criticizing his comments on the Hollywood Unlocked Instagram page, read: “I was caught off guard and I had no response to give my grandsons. All my gay friends know what’s going on, they called me with love. I am sorry not to know the answers to give to a 6-year-old child. Teach me how to learn.I am not perfect.” The comment was subsequently deleted.
The source of the fabricated response remains unkown. Snoop Dogg’s initial comments have prompted a broader discussion about the inclusion of LGBTQ+ narratives in children’s entertainment and the duty of parents and caregivers to address related questions. He recently made headlines for becoming a co-owner of the Welsh soccer club in Swansea and for his support of his wife’s striptease club.
