Ninety P trains, running during rush hour from or to Brussels will be abolished from Monday due to the coronavirus pandemic, SNCB and Infrabel announced in a joint statement. This measure will, however, ensure 97% of normal supply. The two companies say they have observed a sharp decrease in train use (30 to 35% peak occupancy on Friday March 13) since the announcement of social distancing measures by the National Security Council Thursday evening.

SNCB initially announced the abolition of 47 trains. Including round trips, the total amounts to 90 trains canceled, the railway company said. A total of 468 P trains are scheduled each weekday on the Belgian rail network. Travelers are invited to consult the SNCB website, the trip planner and the mobile application.
“All the lines will continue to be served and the composition of the trains will be reinforced if necessary in order to allow to maintain a moderate rate of frequentation and thus to limit the risks of contamination between travelers”, assure the SNCB and Infrabel. “This adaptation is a first phase which could evolve depending on the development of the situation, the absenteeism due to illness of the members of staff of the two railway companies and the occupancy rate of the trains. “
