Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 shines in tests and saves flagships

How efficient will the flagships be in 2022? Tests show that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is an incomparably better processor than its predecessor. It was not possible right away?

A few days ago Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 had its official premiere. The manufacturer assured about the amazing capabilities of the new processor, but after the previous blooper, no one will take their word for it. Now the first benchmark results have hit the network. Let’s see what the SoC has to offer, which will power all upcoming flagships in 2022.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in benchmark tests

Let’s start with AnTuTu, because everyone more or less knows what such a result means. One million points is the limit that previously (but not necessarily averaged) only MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 exceeded. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 does it without a problem. Even if we release the benchmark three times in a row, the magic barrier is broken every time.

Where can you see the biggest drop in subsequent tests? In GPU performance. This may or may not indicate a limitation in gaming performance. On the other hand – with such a reserve of power, there is currently no game that would be able to use the full capabilities of the new Snapdragon.

Geekbench goes to the second fire. Here, the results are fairly close at each iteration of the test. Around 1,140 and 4,200 points (for single and multi-core, respectively) is a solid figure. Still, however, in multi-core performance then MediaTek Dimensity 9000 wins. By less than 10%, but still wins.

All these considerations lead us to one conclusion – Qualcomm drew conclusions and gave us a good processor for the flagship. It is a pity that some have already bought flagships in 2022. Ultimately, we are only missing energy performance. Qualcomm says it will be visible to the naked eye. 30% better energy efficiency is great news for everyone.

More on Snapdragona 8+ Gen 1 you will find out from our premiere text. In a nutshell – if you have already bought a flagship in 2022, I feel sorry for you.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 officially. Stronger and cooler than the most powerful!
