Not all IT giants face the legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple over the App Store against the iPhone group. Snapchat, among the most popular social media offers in the top 5 in many countries, has now been explicitly praised by Apple. Its CEO, Evan Spiegel from the parent company Snap, said in an interview that it was “happy” to pay Apple’s 30 percent commission for in-app sales, which it has been demanding for over a decade.

Snap is also “in agreement” with Apple regarding its new ATT anti-tracking function. This was sharply criticized by Facebook, among others. Snap began almost ten years ago to protect the privacy of its users – but this was not entirely scandal-free. The transition to ATT has so far gone smoothly for Snapchat.
Procedure enters the decision-making phase
Spiegel’s statements come at a time when the proceedings between Apple and Epic are just coming to an end. The game company wants to set up its own app store and sees Apple as a monopoly. Most recently, Apple boss Tim Cook testified that the judge must now decide – or the parties reach an out-of-court agreement.
What is interesting about Spiegel’s interview is that the social network is in direct competition with Apple in another area. Most recently, Snapchat presented its own augmented reality glasses. Apple is also said to be active in this area and is said to be planning its own headset in the coming years.
