Smoke after ‘small explosion’ at Capitol building closed | Abroad

American media report this and can be seen on Twitter. According to a source from Reuters news agency, no one was allowed to enter or leave the Capitol. There was no threat to the public.

The police at the Capitol immediately after the incident spoke of an ‘external threat’. Moments later, Fox News announced that it was believed to be a “minor explosion.”

Employees were told to stay away.

According to the fire brigade, there were no injuries in ‘the smoke that many have seen’. The damage is therefore not too bad.

Incidentally, various theories are circulating on social media – from an air conditioning explosion to a fire in a homeless person. According to a POLITICO journalist, both are correct; she heard from a source in the National Guard that it was a propane tank. The tank was in a homeless camp.

America is on edge in the run-up to tomorrow’s inauguration. It is even feared that within the FBI or National Guard there are violent Trump sympathizers.
