Smartphones between 150 and 200 euros

  • Nokia G21
  • Motorola Moto G31
  • Samsung Galaxy A13
  • Redmi Note 11

Summary

The Nokia G21 is a very simple device. Android One is clean and supported for a long time. Plus, the device charges fast and lasts for a long time on a single charge. The camera is unfortunately the weak point of this smartphone.

Summary

The Motorola G31 is a powerful device with a very nice screen. Apart from that, the program is clean, smooth and fast. Gestures are always a welcome addition. The smartphone also works well and takes reasonable photos. Unfortunately, in recent years, software support has been on the short side, even at this price point. Support will continue until November 2023.

Summary

The Samsung Galaxy A13 is a powerful smartphone, but unfortunately not that strong. For the same money, you can find a faster smartphone that is compatible with heavy games. On the other hand, the camera performance is better than other smartphones in this price category and you have excellent software support.

Summary

The Redmi Note 11 is a solid smartphone for the price. The device is powered by a powerful mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. Plus, a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR port and a card tray with space for two SIM cards and a microSD card make it a very complete device. The screen is also very good so this smartphone can easily keep up with high-end flagships. Cameras are weak and smartphones are full of pots and ads. However, it is a good smartphone.

Negative

  • Medium to weak camera
  • Lots of bloatware

When we talk about cheap or cheap smartphones, the average tech enthusiast often turns his nose. These devices are usually so bad that they are not worth it. Today, the average smartphone is so powerful that many mid-range and high-quality features are slowly making their way into the low-cost market. Users who occasionally use the internet, use social media and watch movies should in theory suffice with a cheap smartphone, but is that true? We dug into the budget box and put four devices for 150-200 euros on the shelf.

We chose the Samsung Galaxy A13, Motorola Moto G31, Nokia G21, and Redmi Note 11. These devices are available in various versions and we chose the cheapest. Motorola sent us the G31 64GB model, which currently costs €149. Nokia also offered us a 64GB version of the G21. This one changed owner for 175 euros. The Redmi Note 11 we put on the shelf costs €166 at the time of writing and also has 64GB of storage. The Samsung Galaxy A13 is available in 4G and 5G versions and Samsung has given us a 4G version with 64GB storage and an Exynos 850 soc. The smartphone costs 194 euros.

What’s special is that the average smartphone in this price category has more functionality and connectivity in it than the average high-end smartphone. Think headphone jack, memory card reader, FM radio, and infrared port. This may be the reason for many people to choose such devices. Does that automatically mean that the other components are so bad that you have to put up with a bad screen, hateful battery, worn out speakers, and a rickety camera? It is, but whether this is still the case, you will find out in this review.
