The death toll in Spain from the coronavirus increased by 164 on Sunday. That’s the smallest increase in the country in nearly seven weeks.
The Spanish Ministry of Health confirmed the figures previously reported by the Spanish newspaper El País. Fewer deaths were last recorded on March 18 (105).
The number of new deaths on Sunday is considerably lower than the average for the past week, when the figure fluctuated around three hundred.
The death toll in Spain has risen to 25,264 according to the latest figures, after Italy and the United Kingdom the second highest in Europe.
The Spanish government previously announced Monday to loosen the country’s lockdown in stages, depending on the numbers. On Saturday, many Spaniards were allowed to go out for sports for the first time in weeks.
