Small Meteoroid Hits $10 Billion Webb Space Telescope

PORTAL LEBAK – A small meteoroid hit the newly launched James Webb Space Telescope last December, in May 2022.

This left one of its gold-plated mirrors misaligned, though it didn’t change the orbiting observatory’s schedule for full operation soon, said NASA on Wednesday 8 June 2022.

The little space rock hit telescope worth 10 billion dollars at the end of May 2022.

The statement at once declared it was the fifth and greatest blow to telescope since its launch in December 2021.

“After initial assessment, the team found telescope still working at a rate that exceeds all mission requirements,” said NASA.
