Small businesses go bankrupt or suspend their activities. CEIDG data

On the other hand, the number of applications for suspension of operations increased by over 39% year on year.

Closing of companies

The case was described on Monday by “Business Insider”. He cites the data of the Ministry of Development and Technology, which shows that in the first half of this year. over 104.3 thousand entries were entered into the CEIDG register. applications for closing a business (monthly average 17 thousand. 385). That’s exactly 25.8 percent. more than in the same period of 2021, when there were 82.9 thousand.

The portal asked for a comment from tax advisor Natalia Stoch-Mika. In her opinion, the CEIDG data can be really disturbing.

– We have been observing for several years unfavorable changes in the legal and tax environment for running a business in Poland. In 2022, continuous changes in taxes, e.g. Polish Order and subsequent amendments to it. These factors have a bad impact on the functioning of small and medium-sized businesses, which may consequently lead to more business closings, the lawyer said.

The same reason is indicated by the restructuring advisor and legal advisor Łukasz Goszczyński.

– The statistics are influenced by the new tax burdens imposed by the Polish Government. There are also, among others, issues such as rising energy prices and interest rates. Many entrepreneurs, in the current macroeconomic conditions, give up running companies because they are not able to generate positive financial results – he says.

Suspensions of economic activity

Another alarming statistic concerns the suspension of activities by entrepreneurs. Well, the CEIDG data shows that in the first half of 2022, 161.1 thousand zlotys were entered into the register. such requests.

“This is 39.4 percent more than in the corresponding period of last year, when there were over 115.5 thousand. Recently, therefore, the monthly average was 26,857, and earlier – 19,264. Looking at this year, the most applications it was in January and June – 38,000,025 and 28,000,514 respectively. These months also open such a list covering the first half of 2021 – 24,000 104 and 21,000 514 “- indicates” Business Insider “.

Attorney Goszczyński believes that the economic crisis is already clearly visible.

– Most often, entrepreneurs decide to suspend their activities in a situation where under given conditions they cannot earn income. Such a move makes it possible to wait through the difficult period at no cost. However, companies naturally leave the market, to which it is difficult to return and establish new business relations after some time – he explains.
