SLP gears up for a fresh COVID vaccination drive.

The World Health Organization, through its Immunization Expert Advisory Group, recommended that vaccination against Covid-19 should continue, applying an additional dose 6 or 12 months after receiving the last dose in the population at risk, and in The country and the State of San Luis Potosí are waiting for the guidelines established by the Ministry of Health.

The deputy director of Epidemiology of the Health Services, Francisco Cervantes Durán, mentioned that the vaccination guidelines in the country are issued by the National Center for Children and Adolescents (CENSIA) and that according to what was indicated by the WHO last Tuesday March 28, the risk groups to consider for the additional covid vaccine are: Older adults, people with comorbidities such as diabetes, heart disease, patients with HIV or other immunosuppressive conditions, as well as those who are transplant recipients, people pregnant women and health personnel.

He reiterated that what is published by the WHO are recommendations, and that the governments of the countries will decide whether to implement them as is or make modifications, so in the case of Mexico, we must wait for the decision of the Ministry of Health and then issue the corresponding guidelines.

Regarding the cases of Covid-19 in the State, 53 new infections have been registered, confirming the State Committee for Health Safety and Health Services 247,350 total cases of this condition.

43 new infections were detected in the Sanitary Jurisdiction I; six, in the Sanitary Jurisdiction II of Matehuala; two, in the Sanitary Jurisdiction III of Villa de Pozos; one, in the Sanitary Jurisdiction IV of Rioverde; one, in the Sanitary Jurisdiction V of Ciudad Valles; No new infections were registered in people residing in another Entity or in the sanitary jurisdictions VI of Tamazunchale and VII of Tancanhuitz.

The number of deaths in the State remains at 7,698 as no new deaths due to Covid-19 have been registered for this day. Regarding the studies of new cases, 32 correspond to women and 21 to men in an age range of 10 months to 89 years. There are 10 people hospitalized, none of whom require assisted breathing.
