Slovenian ministers have violated quarantine rules, but are not in danger of being expelled

Among the citizens who are repeatedly encouraged to comply with government measures, their behavior has caused a wave of resentment. For the prime minister, however, their overstepping is not a reason for appeal, the APA agency said on Tuesday.

“I do not demand resignation from anyone. The government works non-stop and also makes mistakes. Especially because every minister has twice as much work,” said Prime Minister Janez Janša.

He visited the National Gallery for quarantine instead

A routine test at Logar revealed a coronavirus on Friday after returning from a business trip. While waiting for the result, according to the media, he visited the National Gallery and met its director there.

According to government spokesman Jelko Kacin, it was a routine test that was not preceded by any signs of covid-19 disease. “No one expected him to be positive, but it turned out he was. He has been in solitary confinement since then,” Kacin said on Monday, adding that Logar had stopped all of his activities after receiving the test result.

The second minister went to the beauty salon

According to the recommendations of the Slovenian Institute for Public Health (NIJZ), everyone should avoid contact with people while waiting for the test result. According to the Slovenian press, Koritnik also violated the same recommendation, accompanying his partner to the beauty salon while waiting for the result. Unlike Logar, his test was negative. He apologized to the citizens for his recklessness, but at the same time stated that he had not endangered anyone or violated any rules.

According to the APA, this pair is not the only one to be blamed for overstepping during the coronavirus crisis. The head of the NIJZ, Milan Krek himself, was seen last week at a petrol station without a veil, but it is obligatory to wear this protective device outside as well. He, too, publicly apologized, attributing the mistake to fatigue. Without a veil in September, television cameras also captured the Minister of Education, Simona Kustecová, which aroused considerable outrage, as the obligation to wear a veil for older pupils was already in force during teaching. The leading epidemiologist in the country, Bojana Beovičová, criticized her for setting a bad example for people.
