A new playmaker is an overdue move. After Johnathon Jones in the 2012/2013 season, Donovan Donaldson is by far the worst point guard that has played in Frankfurt in recent years. He didn’t score a single point against Bayern. In the 2012/2013 season, the Skyliners only avoided relegation in the last game. By then they had long since parted ways with Jones.

The Hessen can not part with Donaldson so quickly because they do not have enough fit players in the squad. At Center DeBischopp, Ocampo hopes that he can start team training next week. “But even then we have to wait and see how it goes,” said the head coach. For Robertson, it depends on how quickly his swelling subsides and he can put weight on his foot again. He will be missing from the team for at least a week.

For the Frankfurt basketball players, it will only be about staying up this season. All teams that you thought you were on par with before the start of the season, such as Giessen, Göttingen, Mitteldeutsche BC or newly promoted Heidelberg, have all already achieved two or more wins after five games. The Skyliners have to go to play-off candidate Ulm next Saturday (6 p.m.) and then championship leader Bamberg comes to Frankfurt. After the cup game in Braunschweig (November 13th), the trend-setting game in Würzburg will take place on November 21st, which so far has only had one win.

The longer the first win of the season is in coming, the more difficult and longer it will be to fight your way out again.
