Skoda Enyaq and competition: Electric is not enough, how can it stand up to diesel Kodiaq?

Škoda Enyaq iV 80 – from CZK 1,189,900

The first electric Škoda on the MEB platform, also manufactured in Mladá Boleslav. Enyaq iV is a crucial milestone for the car manufacturer with a winged arrow, which was also reflected in the world premiere in Prague (you could see how it looked there here).

On the Czech market, it is currently possible to order a car in the iV 80 variant in two options. These do not differ in powertrain – that is, a 150kW electric motor driving the rear axle. The battery has a capacity of 82 kWh (77 kWh can be used), which according to the carmaker’s data is enough for a distance of 510 km. This is also the most that any version of Enyaqu will be able to do. Charging from five to 80 percent takes only about 38 minutes, if you use a quick charger with an output of 125 kW (you can find more about the car itself here).

The two offered versions differ only in the equipment. The loft, for which it is necessary to pay extra for fast charging, costs 1,189,900 crowns, the limited introductory series Founder’s Edition, even with the possibility of fast charging, then 1,379,900 crowns (we discussed the prices in more detail here).

At the same time, it is also possible to pre-order the cheapest version of the iV 60 with an output of 132 kW and a battery with a capacity of 60 kWh (58 kWh can be used). It will cost at least 1,059,900 crowns and cover 390 km. This version will be binding only from the autumn, so it does not yet appear in the official price list (but you can already find it in the configurator) and that is also why we chose a stronger version of the iV 80 for comparison.

However, it is true that both cars should be received at the same time, specifically in the second quarter of next year.

In the following slides, you can see how the Enyaq iV 80 Loft stands against similarly priced Škoda models – the Kodiaqu 2.0 TDI and the plug-in hybrid Superb Combi iV. We also compared the car with similarly expensive and powerful electrical competitors from other brands. And this comparison shows that so far Enyaq is a bit of a solitaire, because no one offers such a large electric car for a similar price.
