On Saturday at 1:50 p.m. a skier had a serious accident on the Lenk, the Bern cantonal police said. According to current knowledge, the 49-year-old Swiss was on the way down from the Stoss middle station to the Betelberg valley station together with other people.

In the Obere Wyssestei / Cheerweidgrabe area, the skier fell on the slopes and slipped over the edge of the slope. There he crashed into a tree and remained lying there seriously injured.

First aid without success
The skier’s companions, together with other snow sports enthusiasts, immediately provided first aid until employees of the piste and rescue service and a Rega crew arrived on site.

Despite the rapid rescue measures, an on-site emergency doctor was ultimately only able to determine the man’s death. The accident investigation is ongoing. (Tractor unit)
