He says about Zen houses: “I am pleased with his strong performance.”

LOOK: Peter Schröcksnadel, how is your health? Peter Schröcksnadel: I feel great with my 78 years. We currently have a curfew with us in Tyrol, so I suddenly have a lot of time to train at home. If it goes on like this for a long time, I will have a really nice six-pack in a few months. And I also invest money in researchers who are looking for drugs against cancer and the corona virus.
–
How did that happen? My involvement in medical research is linked to a special history. Should I tell them?
–
Necessarily! OK. I caught a bad cold fishing in the Pacific Ocean a few years ago. I then ended up in a hospital in Vancouver, where I was quickly made ready to travel again. I was able to take the flight home to Innsbruck without major complaints.
–
And then? I flew back to Canada two months later to thank the people in the hospital. On this occasion, the professor presented his research project to me. And I’ve been supporting this financially since 2013. My money was used to pay the wages of a Danish cancer researcher who is now also developing a vaccine against the corona virus.
–
And when can we expect this vaccine? I am in regular contact with a research team in Copenhagen. They believe that it will be there early next winter. In Austria, however, there is another research team that assumes that they will have the right vaccine in a few months.
–
And have you also discovered a way to make Switzerland win the Nations Cup again? In any case, I am very confident that we will do better again in the coming season.
–
Do you remember the conversation you had with Swiss Ski President Urs Lehmann at the last World Cup in Are? You allegedly said that you would step down as ÖSV President as soon as Switzerland defeated Austria in the Nations Cup. I can remember it very well. But now of course I have a good excuse, because the season could not be ended as planned due to the corona virus.
–
Are you saying that Austria would have made up more than 1000 points behind Switzerland without Corona? No, Switzerland deservedly won this rating. You really have a great team there. But because so much is now being postponed due to Corona, it is possible that because of this extraordinary situation, I might still be needed as the ÖSV President for a year longer. But I will not decide that alone, we will calmly analyze the situation within the association and take the appropriate decisions.
–
But what makes you so confident that Austria can outstrip Switzerland again next winter? We strengthened with some very good new managers before last season. Now these people’s new measures have not yet taken effect, but I am convinced that we will be successful in the long term. In addition, some very good athletes who have injured themselves this winter will return next winter. We lost 17 runners in total, including a Hannes Reichelt or a Bernadette sign. The two of them would normally have scored 1,000 points together.
–
Nevertheless, it would be too easy to attribute the modest ÖSV record to pure bad luck. What mistakes do you see? We have an undeniable weakness in the giant slalom since Marcel Hirscher’s resignation. But we have a good concept to fix this weakness.
–
How does it look? Of course, I cannot reveal that at this point. But back to our losing streak last winter: Matthias Mayer missed races after his victory in Kitzbühel due to a severe flu. Before the last Super-G in Kvitfjell, Vincent Kriechmayr and Mayer, two ÖSV athletes had the chance to get the small crystal ball, but then this race had to be canceled due to bad weather. As you can see, a lot has happened against us. I don’t want to reduce the performance of the great Swiss athletes. And as a shareholder in the mountain railways in Saas-Fee, I am particularly pleased about the strong performance of Ramon Zenhauser, who is the official ambassador of Saas-Fee.
–
You also belong to the board of the International Ski Association, FIS. Would you vote Urs Lehmann if he is running for president? I do not want to publicly comment on this topic. But I can say that Urs is a friend of mine. And I think I’m a friend of his too.
