The SKAM series is shot in a real Parisian high school
Series SHAME France is mostly filmed within the Dorian high school, in the XIe district of Paris. “We have to thank them because they are a real pillar of our organization. We do all our preparation and rehearsals there ”, confides Benoît Auriol, production manager of SHAME France, daily 20 Minutes.
Screenwriters who are between 25 and 30 years old
“I always made the choice on SKAM France to choose young authors, who were more or less in phase with the target audience”, reveals Niels Rahou, collection director (or chief screenwriter), to the newspaper 20 Minutes. Thus, the writers who work on the series are between 25 and 30 years old. For each season, they are four in number and form what is called a ” writing workshop “. “Some come out of Femis, but not only, some are self-taught”, he specifies.
A crush between Axel Auriant (Lucas) and Maxence Danet-Fauvel (Eliott)
While playing the star couple of season 3 of SHAME France and one of the couples LGBTQ the most inspiring series, Axel Auriant (Lucas) and Maxence Danet-Fauvel (Eliott) reveal that they fell in love with each other during their first meeting. It was during an interview for the magazine Stubborn in 2019 that they confide in this subject. “We saw each other one evening and we drank a lot. The next day, it was as if we had been friends for three years ”, remembers Axel Auriant.
Maxence Danet-Fauvel continues: “We did not expect such a connection to be created. Before shooting our scenes, especially sex, we stamped on the idea of jumping on each other, even though we are both heterosexual. The love affair between Eliott and Lucas is stellar. “
The piano scene between Lucas and Eliott was not planned
This is one of the defining scenes in the love story between Eliott and Lucas: when the latter starts playing the piano in front of him, in episode 2 of season 3 of SHAME France. And yet, it almost did not exist! It was only when director David Hourrègue let the writers know that Axel Auriant could play the piano that they decided to put his talents in the spotlight. They were just looking to get away from the original series a bit and it was a successful mission with this scene, in which Eliott falls under the spell of Lucas … And the show’s audiences have skyrocketed.
Axel Auriant (Lucas) experienced school bullying
Series SHAME France deals with many topics, including bullying school. Throughout the first three seasons, Lucas is often singled out by his own friends for his supposed homosexuality. However, his interpreter Axel Auriant knows what it is, as he tells it in the pages of the magazine Stubborn : “I got called a ‘queer’ in high school because I was dating a gorgeous girl and I wasn’t the manliest guy there was. Some mornings, I would throw up before going to class, I would arrive late for class with a lump in my stomach… And it’s almost impossible to talk about it to relatives or to teachers. ” Other teenage series explore the subject of bullying at school, such as 13 Reasons Why on Netflix.
The actors free to change the scenario
One of the strengths of SHAME France undoubtedly lies in its very correct dialogues. This is explained among other things, according to Niels Rahou, by the “Additions by actors, even younger than the screenwriters, who are given the opportunity to appropriate the text”, he reveals to 20 Minutes. “They have the possibility of saying the exact same thing but perhaps in a more current way. “ The screenwriter highlights in particular the “Formidable capacity for improvisation” by Robin Migné, who plays Arthur, the hero of season 5.
The surprise departure of Marilyn Lima (Manon)
The creators, producers and screenwriters of series in general are never at the end of their surprises. It happens that actors leave a shoot overnight, totally changing the plot. This is what happened on SHAME France, with the surprise departure of Marilyn Lima (Manon) before season 5. Niels Rahou tells 20 Minutes : “Season 5 was originally written including the character of Manon, but as Marilyn Lima was ultimately not available, we had to make last minute changes. I rewrote the whole season overnight, removing his character but also all occurrences related to his character and the consequences of what his character might have said or done. “
Season 6 could have been centered on Daphne
Season 6 of SHAME France is centered on Lola, Daphne’s little sister. But this was not the original idea of the writers and in particular of the director David Hourrègue, who confided in our colleagues fromAllocine : “Basically, we had several ideas. We wanted to talk about Arthur, Daphne, Alexia, Eliott. Afterwards, we adapted according to what we were allowed to do. It was considered that not to talk about Daphne was next to impossible in the sense that she is a central character in all seasons and her narrative arc had to be closed. “
“When we were planning at the time, I very quickly wanted her to have a little sister and the mother’s death was there from the start of the script. After being refused for a season on Daphné, the idea of the little sister quickly came back to us with Niels (Rahou, NDLR) », continues David Hourrègue. If the reasons for this refusal are not known, this explains why the sixth chapter is not only about Daphne.
