The Puebla government reported the arrest of six people involved in the femicide of the young Angie Michelle Vera, 19, who disappeared on July 12 in San Andrés Cholula.

At a press conference, the Puebla attorney general, Gilberto Higuera, explained that the identification of the seven people and the apprehension of six of them was possible thanks to the testimonies of the people who witnessed the crime.

Although the identities of the detainees were not disclosed, earlier, the same Prosecutor’s Office indicated that they were following the trail of two friends of the victim, one of them with a history of aggression against Angie herself.

According to the investigations carried out by the Puebla Prosecutor’s Office, Angie Michelle has lived with a minor friend, in San Andrés Cholula, Puebla, since last April.

The last contact Angie had with her mother was through WhatsApp, on Sunday, July 12. Angie’s last connection to the media was on July 13.

On July 16, Angie’s mother reported her daughter’s disappearance to the state authorities, who began an investigation folder at the Office of the Special Prosecutor for Investigation of Disappearance of Persons.

That same day, the mother of the minor with whom Angie lived stated that her daughter contacted her to ask for help because “they had murdered her friend Michelle and she had seen the facts.”

The minor said she did not know the people who committed femicide.

Given this, the State Prosecutor’s Office began a search in the Forensic Medical Service, and after reviewing the files, a match was found with the body of a woman found on July 13, in the municipality of San Nicolás de los Ranchos.

That is, Angie’s femicide would have been committed a few hours after the last contact with her mother.

Prosecutor Gilberto Higuera added that Angie’s body had a puncture wound in the neck.

The minor who lived with Angie was located in the city of Puebla and is under the protection of the State Prosecutor’s Office, where she was assisted by an expert in psychology and interviewed by the authorities.

This Monday several people demonstrated in Puebla for Angie’s femicide.

The contingent demanded justice in the case and accused Governor Miguel Barbosa of minimizing the disappearances of women in the entity.
