Six inmates dead: missing helicopter crashed

An excursion helicopter is missing in Hawaii. After a long search, the helpers discover the wreck. The authorities assume that none of the seven inmates survived the crash.

Rescue workers have found the wreck of a missing excursion helicopter in Hawaii. The police said the island of Kauai. A total of seven people were on board the helicopter, two of which are said to have been minors. So far, the remains of six dead have been recovered and there is no evidence of survivors, a fire department spokesman said at a press conference.

The helicopter crash site is located in a mountainous area on Kauai off the coast of Na Pali, which is one of the most dangerous and sought-after travel destinations in Hawaii and was featured in the film “Jurassic Park”. Towering mountains with deep gorges and huge waterfalls make up the interior of the uninhabited state park. Red rocks with thick jungle crowns rise from the Pacific Ocean to over 1,219 meters.

Dan Dennison, spokesman for the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources, who has been visiting and photographing the area for years, told AP news agency that winter brings more rain and turbulent seas. “Flash floods often close the way for safety reasons in winter,” he said. “There are numerous streams that can rise very quickly.”

The owner of the helicopter had reported it missing after the helicopter had not returned from a sightseeing flight on Thursday at the agreed time. The search for the wreck, involving police, fire and coast guard forces, took place under difficult weather conditions. The Hawaiian archipelago belongs to the United States.
