The suspicion of covid-19 disease also appeared in the Vítkovice team, so the club postponed the planned Friday match in advance. Today, only one match of the 43rd round of the highest competition will take place, only the duel of Kometa Brno and Liberec remains in the program. The leadership of the league is not considering stopping it for the time being.

“No proposal for a possible interruption of the competition has been made yet. The management of the extra league and the clubs themselves are interested in continuing. “There is a mutual effort to play as many matches of the basic part as possible,” the union’s spokesman Zdeněk Zikmund told ČTK today.
Already during the last week, the covid-19 disease appeared gradually in České Budějovice, Mladá Boleslav and Zlín. Already at the beginning of the year, the defending champion and currently leading team of the competition Třinec also fought the coronavirus.
The Prague team was forced to postpone today’s home match with Karlovy Vary and also Friday’s duel in Zlín. The North Bohemians will not play with Hradec Králové, Olomouc and Karlovy Vary this week, and Pardubice will not play against Olomouc and Třinec.
The Sparta cadre was marked by an extensive virosis in the past two performances on Friday against Hradec Králové (4: 1) and on Sunday on the ice of Liberec (3: 4). Several players could not jump into the match due to health reasons. In the first of these duels, coach Josef Jandač was missing for the same reasons. That’s why the players passed further examinations on Monday after Saturday’s PCR tests, and the tests revealed positive cases for the second time.
“It is, of course, a complication for us, but we have to deal with it. We are in permanent contact with the Hygiene Station of the Capital City of Prague, with which we are solving further steps. We will look for alternative dates for matches with Karlovy Vary and Zlín,” said the club’s sports director Petr Ton.
Litvínov was to compete with Hradec Králové on Wednesday. However, the Verva team will not play in Friday either and the club will also be looking for a new date for the duel with Karlovy Vary, which was scheduled for Sunday. Pardubice was to play with Olomouc today and were to introduce themselves in Třinec on Thursday. After an agreement with Hradec Králové, Vítkovice postponed Friday’s duel.
The whole affair is also unpleasant for Karlovy Vary. The energetics lost the fifth match in less than two weeks due to the postponement of the duel in Sparta and Litvínov. After Třinec and České Budějovice, they were unable to board for the last time on Friday on the ice of Mladá Boleslav, where the team was already traveling. The last time the coach Martin Pešout’s charges played for points was on Friday, January 7, in Pardubice. Now they should welcome Pilsen in the West Bohemian derby on Friday. Representatives of Vítkovice stated on their website that due to the detention of the covid-19 infection in the team, the players will undergo PCR tests on Wednesday. “Whether the Vítkovice team will have to be quarantined and whether it will be necessary to postpone the next matches depends on the results,” said the representatives of the fifth team of the competition. The match of the 44th round has already been postponed to Sunday, January 30.
Even before the start of the year, the management of the extra league adjusted the rules for cases where the covid-19 disease would interfere with the program and the match had to be postponed. The match can be postponed for a maximum of 30 days. In the event that this fails, new competition dates may be set by the competition director Josef Řezníček or the Hockey Association’s sports and technical committee.
Teams wishing to advance to the playoffs must play at least 50 percent of the match. In the event that one of the teams does not play the full number of matches, the number of points according to the average profit will be added to the table. All clubs have already played at least half of the basic part, including 60 rounds.
