Sinovac is not WHO certified, pilgrims who get vaccinated are prohibited from doing Umrah?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said, one of the conditions to follow worship umrah in Saudi Arabia, the World Health Organization (WHO) certified Covid-19 Vaccine has been injected.

However, vaksin Sinovac does not have the certificate yet. In fact, as is known, this vaccine is mostly given to the people of Indonesia.

“Starting from Ramadan tomorrow, you can start Umrah, but you must have been vaccinated. The vaccine must be done certified or certified by WHO, “said Yaqut quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Religion, Saturday (10/4/2021).

Previously, during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR, Friday (9/4/2021), Yaqut said that the possibility of Sinovac certification was still in process.

“If not, it does not mean no, there must be a process being carried out so that Sinovac can be registered by WHO,” he said.

He admitted that there were geopolitical issues and trade wars related to this policy. However, Yaqut said, he did not have the authority to explain this.

Furthermore, regarding the implementation of the 2021 haj pilgrimage, Yaqut said that his party continued to establish correspondence with the Saudis and tried to communicate with the new Saudi Arabian Minister of Haj.
