American singer and actress Selen Gomes is fighting lupus, a chronic inflammatory disease of autism. Since 2013, she has undergone chemotherapy and a kidney transplant.
Gomesa has published a picture on her Instagram profile that openly shows a scar after a kidney transplant operation, because she has finally accepted her body and felt “confident” about herself.
The 28-year-old artist does not hide in the commentary next to the picture that it was difficult to show her scar to others after the operation, so she tried to hide it during the photo shoot.
“Now I feel confident about who I am and what I’ve been through … and I’m proud of it,” Gomesa writes.
