Singer Angèle nominated six times for MIAs

The Brussels singer Angèle is a top favorite in the double edition of the Music Industry Awards (MIAs), the Flemish music awards. Last year the prizes could not be awarded due to corona. Balthazar, Regi and Zwangere Guy also score in the nominations.

It will be a special edition of the Music Industry Awards (MIAs) this year. Because the awards of the Flemish music sector could not be awarded at the beginning of this year due to the corona crisis, a double edition of the event will take place on 3 February 2022, in which both 2020 and 2021 are discussed. The award Hit of the year will therefore also be awarded twice.

The big favorite is the Brussels singer Angèle. She has been nominated a total of six times: in the category Pop, Solo woman, Author/composer, Video clip (for the song ‘Bruxelles je t’aime’), Hit of the year 2020 (‘Oui ou non’) and Hit of the year 2021 (‘Fever’, together with Dua Lipa). on the previous edition of the MIAs, the Brussels one went home with five statuettes.

In addition, there are also five nominations for Balthazar, Regi en Pregnant Guy. Meskerem Mees, Bart Peeters, Sylvie Kreusch and Metejoor have been nominated four times each. Stromae and Camille have a chance to win three MIAs.

It is also striking that the Urban category has been replaced by Hip-hop/r&b. Pregnant Guy, Lous and the Yakuza, Tourist LeMC on Yong Yello will compete for that award.

Also noteworthy: the songwriter who died in September Stefan Fernandez was nominated posthumously in the category Author/composer. He is the author of countless Flemish hits, from ‘Nobel Prize’ and ‘Düm tek tek’ to ‘Fireworks’.
