The Dutch singer Jan Rot (64) has died of cancer. He had canceled his last tour and testified in columns about his illness. Rot wrote lyrics for Rob de Nijs or Boudewijn de Groot, for musicals and for classical music. His duet with Rick de Leeuw on a text by Annie MG Schmidt, about a father who watches his daughter grow up, became a hit: “On a beautiful Pentecost day, together in the sun”.
