South Korean Blockbuster “omniscient Reader: The Prophecy” set for 2025 Release, Featuring Star-Studded Cast
A highly anticipated South Korean film, “Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy,” is slated for release in 2025, promising a thrilling narrative based on the immensely popular web novel “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.” the production, with a budget of 30 billion won (approximately S$28 million), boasts an remarkable cast, including Ahn Bo-hyun and Lee Min-ho, alongside Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, Kwon Eun-seong, and Jisoo from Blackpink.
The film’s plot centers on Dok-ja, who, after sending an angry text to the author of a novel, finds himself transported into the very world of the story, which is facing impending destruction. Armed with his intimate knowledge of the storyline, Dok-ja collaborates with the novel’s characters, including the protagonist Yu Jung-hyeok, to navigate the perilous circumstances and forge a new conclusion.
Ahn Bo-hyun, 30, makes his feature film debut with this project. He recently gained recognition for voicing Jinu, the leader of a boy band, in the Netflix animated movie “K-Pop Demon Hunters.” his previous acting credits include prominent roles in K-dramas such as “Doctor Romantic 2” and “3” (2020-2023), “Lovers of the Red Sky” (2021), and “business Proposal” (2022).
Lee Min-ho, 38, is a widely recognized figure in Asia and one of South Korea’s most followed actors on Instagram. He rose to fame through hit K-dramas like “Boys Over Flowers” (2009), “The Heirs” (2013), and “The King: Eternal Monarch” (2020). His international work includes a role in the US series “Pachinko” (2022-2024).
“Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,” created by the duo singNsong, has achieved significant global success, with its web novel and web comic adaptations garnering over 2.5 billion views worldwide. The original web novel concluded in February 2020, and an epilogue series has been ongoing as February 2023, further expanding its universe.The webtoon adaptation, launched in 2020, is currently available in 10 languages, including English, Japanese, and French.
