Singapore Opens Doors for Indonesian Tourists Who Have Been Vaccinated Starting 29 November

Singapore

Singapore will expand its vaccinated travel route (VTL) scheme to more countries starting November 29. One of them is Indonesia.

Singapore’s Ministry of Health, as quoted by Channel News Asia, Monday (11/15/2021) said Singapore will open VTL with India and Indonesia from 29 November, and with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 6 December. Visitors who enter through this route are not required to quarantine upon arrival in Singapore.

Minister of Transportation S Iswaran stressed that the VTL agreement with Indonesia will be a one-way vaccination route for now because Indonesia is still closing its borders.

Indonesia remains closed to public travel, but has started to open its borders. Since October 14, Indonesia has unilaterally reopened its borders to allow visitors from 19 countries. We hope Indonesia will also reopen its borders to travelers from Singapore,” said Iswar.

For starters, said Iswaran, there will be two daily services between Singapore and Jakarta, and then it will gradually be increased to four.

Applications for short-term visitors and long-term pass holders will start on November 22 for travelers from India and Indonesia, while travelers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE can apply from November 29.

Singapore has already conducted VTL with countries such as Australia, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Korea, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

Singapore previously announced that it would open VTL with Malaysia, Finland and Sweden from 29 November.

Travelers who enter via the VTL route do not need to quarantine upon arrival at Singapore. However, they were asked to deposit a negative PCR test result which was taken within two days before departure. Travelers must also undergo a PCR test upon arrival.
