since deconfinement, testing centers are always full

The laboratories are stormed by the French wanting to know if they are carriers of the new coronavirus: since deconfinement, the flow has not weakened. The technicians taking the samples are tiring.

30 to 50 patients in just two hours. It’s the crazy rhythm of Aude, a laboratory technician in Paris. It welcomes people without an appointment every day. For the most part, these patients are going on vacation soon and want to know if they are carriers of the new coronavirus. Since the deconfinement and especially the reopening of borders, the flow of patients has not weakened. Aude and her team are starting to tire.

“We are not push-buttons”

“There we have been for two days in a very tight flow with machines that have broken down, a lack of staff. And then there are people behind the machines, there are people who have to take samples. don’t believe it’s like in Les experts : Miami… We are not push-buttons. “Aude also regrets that the patients are not more indulgent.” It’s complicated, especially since the patients opposite are not very understanding. They quickly forgot the applause … “

Patients who also do not understand the long delays in obtaining results, sometimes more than four days. To relieve the laboratory technicians, firefighters, orderlies, and health students have been authorized since Saturday to take these samples. And to continue to encourage the French to get tested, the tests will soon be fully covered by Health Insurance, even without a prescription.
