The differences between Simplex SSS and Lycurgus were minimal.

With a great pounding, star Bram Berger hit Simplex SSS in the fifth set to a 12-10 lead. A beautiful 3-2 victory over Lycurgus almost seemed to become reality. That would have been deserved, because the Barnevelders played an excellent match against the three-time national champion.
Yet it went wrong. The Groningen team came back to 12-12. The next run was for SSS, but that also turned out to be the last run of the game. The visitors scored three times in a row, so that the game ended in a bit of an anti-climax.
