singer Simone Cristicchi Shares Music and Connection with Seniors and Students in Trieste
Trieste, Italy – Singer-songwriter, actor, and writer Simone Cristicchi spent a heartwarming afternoon with residents of the Ad Maiores retirement home and scholarship winners in Trieste, fostering a unique intergenerational connection through music and shared stories.
The visit stemmed from Cristicchi’s interest in the Ad Maiores scholarship, a literary competition organized by the emeis group for middle school students in Trieste and its province. This year’s competition theme was inspired by his song “Abbi cura di me,” performed at the Sanremo Festival. While initially unable to attend the awards ceremony due to prior commitments,Cristicchi expressed strong support for the project, according to Ad Maiores director Milla Jani.
“The artist had already been invited to participate in the awards ceremony back then, but artistic commitments had not made his presence possible, even though he had immediately shown himself to be very interested in the project,” Jani said.
A return engagement to Trieste for his show “Trieste 1954” at the Rossetti Theatre provided the opportunity for Cristicchi to connect with the seniors and students in person.
Cristicchi arrived and immediately engaged the audience, accompanying himself on guitar and leading a singalong of classic songs. He then performed his song “We’ll ask the trees,” deeply moving many in attendance. One resident, Claudio, was overcome with emotion, prompting Cristicchi to offer a comforting embrace – a gesture that resonated throughout the room.
The event highlighted the growing success of the Ad Maiores scholarship, which began modestly and has flourished thanks to the dedication of teachers, family support, and the talent of participating students.
