Similar but not the same, this is the difference between TikTok and Instagram Reels

JAKARTA, iNews.id – Recently Instagram has launched a new feature for creating and sharing videos that look similar to TikTok. The new feature is named ‘Reels‘which will be rolled out gradually around the world.

The presence of Reels on Instagram is predicted to heat up the rivalry between Instagram and TikTok. The reason is, the short video sharing platform is very popular among young people around the world, including Indonesia.

Even though they look similar, Reels and TikTok are not the same. Then, what’s the difference? Check out the list, as reported by Mashable, Friday (7/8/2020).

Identity

The thing that is easiest to distinguish from Reels and TikTok is identity. This is because the two applications were made by two different companies with different geographic areas. If TikTok is an application made in China, Reels is actually made in the United States.

Video time limit

TikTok recently extended its maximum video length to 60 seconds in early 2020. This is also different from Reels, which is limited to 15 seconds in length.

Music selection

Finally, what distinguishes Reels and TikTok is the choice of music and audio. There has been no official statement from Facebook on this yet, but the tech giant has confirmed that they will be releasing licensed music soon.

So, go for Reels or TikTok?
